WASHINGTON, Wis. (WFRV) – A man from the Shawano area is dead after reportedly getting hit by a vehicle early Monday morning.
According to the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office, on July 7, around 4:15 a.m., a 911 call came in from a driver who thought he had hit something with his vehicle. The driver told authorities he saw shoes in the roadway.
Officials say the incident happened on County Road HH near Parkwood Drive in the Town of Washington. Deputies were sent to the scene, and after a brief search, a man was found lying in the ditch.

The release says the man was unresponsive and not breathing. Authorities say despite life-saving efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim was identified as a 32-year-old man from the Shawano area. The driver was identified as a 38-year-old from the Keshena area.
The driver was reportedly cooperative with authorities and said he was returning home from work in Green Bay.
