(WFRV) – A group of Wisconsinites and K9 partners are in Texas to assist search, rescue and recovery efforts amidst devastating flooding that has killed over 120 people, with at least 160 people still reported missing.
According to the Wisconsin Emergency Management Facebook page, the eight-member team is referred to as a Canine Human Remains Detection Mission Ready Package.

“Our hearts are with the families, loved ones, and communities affected by this tragedy,” Wisconsin Emergency Management said in a post. “We are proud to support those working tirelessly around the clock to bring hope, help, and healing to those impacted by the Texas floods.”
The members of Wisconsin Task Force 1 headed down on Tuesday, July 8, to support the efforts by officials to find the missing people.
The search team has one leader, two K9 handlers, a logistics manager and a logistics support specialist, along with K9s Duke, Merlin and Reaper. The official Wisconsin Emergency Management page said it will provide updates on its crew’s support mission.
