After dispatch got a report of a person armed with a rifle at the boat launch, law enforcement from several different agencies responded, including the De Pere Police Department, the Ashwaubenon Public Safety Department, and the Brown County Sheriff’s Office.
While officers were attempting to negotiate with the person armed with a rifle, the subject “produced a rifle,” leading to law enforcement officers from De Pere PD and Ashwaubenon Public Safety to discharge their weapons at the subject.
Aid was immediately rendered, but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Law enforcement officers were reportedly wearing body cameras during the incident. The involved law enforcement officers will be placed on administrative leave, per the agencies’ policies.
DCI is leading this investigation, and all involved law enforcement agencies are fully cooperating with DCI during this investigation.
