KAUKAUNA, Wis. (WFRV) – Kegan Gennrich has been fighting his entire life and is a former Hortonville wrestling state champion as well as the Legacy Fighting Alliance’s (LFA) Lightweight titleholder.
On Saturday, he heads to Kentucky for what is possibly the biggest bout of his professional career, and a chance to get the attention of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, commonly referred to as the UFC.

The UFC is the biggest stage for Mixed martial arts (MMA) professional fighting, worth nearly 11.3 billion dollars.
“I know the UFC is 100% watching this, so it’s my chance to make a statement and prove myself as one of the best in the world and in my weight class and that’s what I hope to do Saturday night,” Gennrich said.
Gennrich currently trains out of Fox Valley Elite Wrestling in Kaukauna. His longtime training partner, Tres Leon, believes Gennrich deserves to fight in the UFC.
“He is very well-rounded, one of the best guys in the world and he is right there with guys in the UFC,” Leon said.
While Gennrich is waiting for the call from the UFC, he is making an impact in his community, training the next generation in both wrestling and MMA fighting.
“It has given me a platform to teach and train other wrestlers and fighters and be a positive role model for the other fighters and wrestlers in my community,” Gennrich said.

Liam Crook, a two-time state champ from Kaukauna, is joining the University of Virginia’s wrestling team. He trains with Gennrich and says that the examples that Gennrich sets inspire him to be better.
“I see him working hard when he is sick, and I see him helping me and pushing other guys, and it shows me that I am a part of something great and good. And he leads by example every time,” Crook said.
