OCONTO COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – The Wisconsin Department of Health Services and Oconto Public Health announced Saturday afternoon that it has confirmed nine cases of measles.
According to a joint release, one case was confirmed through tests done at the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene, with eight others confirmed by exposure/symptoms.
The cases were deemed as exposure from a source of out-of-state travel. Officials say they are working to identify and notify anybody who may have been exposed.
No public exposure points have been identified, and the community risk is low. No more information is set to be released due to privacy laws.
These are reportedly the first confirmed cases of the highly contagious disease in Wisconsin thus far in 2025.
