MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WFRV) – As people across southeast Wisconsin face a challenging rebuild from historic downpours and flooding from August 8-10, a nonprofit is providing some assistance.
According to a release, Airbnb’s nonprofit, Airbnb.org, announced that it has teamed up with United Way of Wisconsin, local and state officials to provide free emergency housing to flooding victims.

Airbnb.org says it will work with officials and United Way to determine those in the most dire need for emergency housing and to connect them with a place to stay.
These stays are 100% free for the guests and funded by Airbnb.org and donors. The release adds that anybody willing and able to help can sign up to host or donate, with every penny funding the emergency stays.
United Way of Wisconsin President and CEO Charlene Mouille provided the following statement via the release:
“United Way of Wisconsin is proud to partner with Airbnb.org to support individuals and families displaced by the recent floods in Milwaukee. Through our statewide 211 Wisconsin network—and with the dedicated efforts of Impact 211—we are connecting those affected to safe, temporary housing and critical resources. This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to community resilience and ensures that those facing crisis receive compassionate support when they need it most.”

According to Airbnb.org’s website, it’s not the first time they’ve assisted in times of need like these; they provided help to victims of the Los Angeles wildfires from earlier in 2025 and flooding victims in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, in 2024.
