BAYFIELD COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – Law enforcement agencies in northern Wisconsin are actively searching for a man with a known history of theft who is wanted on multiple arrest warrants following a pursuit and stolen vehicle incident on Tuesday.
On the afternoon of August 19, deputies with the Bayfield County Sheriff’s Office sent out a release regarding the search for Robert Ganz-Brown after an attempted traffic stop around 4 a.m.

Deputies say Ganz-Brown, who is wanted on multiple arrest warrants in Wisconsin, reportedly failed to stop and fled in a minivan. Shortly after, spike strips were successful and disabled the minivan; however, Ganz-Brown escaped on foot.

Later that morning, deputies learned that a vehicle had been stolen from an ‘occupied residence.’ The suspect then fled to Douglas County in the stolen vehicle, where deputies lost visual contact.
The stolen vehicle was later recovered by the Superior Police Department, and the search for Ganz-Brown is ongoing.
Ganz-Brown has a known history of theft, including stealing vehicles and fleeing from law enforcement. At this time, there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the public. However, anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Bayfield County Sheriff’s Office or call 911.

Authorities are asking residents not to approach or try to detain Ganz-Brown.

According to the Superior Police Department and Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Ganz-Brown has contacts in Superior and rural Douglas County.
Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is also asking residents to try and get a license plate number, clothing description, and physical features to relay to the authorities.
“Please lock your homes, garages, and outbuildings. Do not leave keys in anything. He is known to steal anything he can drive, sell or camp/live in. Make sure your security cameras are activated,” the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office stated in a Facebook post.
