SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WFRV) – The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office is celebrating huge news on Friday, after being recognized by The International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED) for its excellence in dispatch work.
According to a release, the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office is now the 361st Medical Accredited Center of Excellence (ACE) in the world, having been recognized for its Emergency Medical Dispatching capabilities.
The IAED sets standards for emergency dispatchers worldwide, and accreditation is the highest distinction an emergency communication center can earn, as it indicates the dispatch center is performing alongside or exceeding industry standards.
According to the release, Sheboygan County receives more than 30,000 911 calls annually, and it uses the Emergency Medical Dispatching protocol each medical call, which has significantly increased pre-arrival instructions in responses.
“Early intervention during life-threatening emergencies saves lives, and these instructions have already played a key role in improving patient outcomes,” Sheboygan Fire Department Assistant Chief Michael Lubbert said in the release.
Sheboygan County Sheriff Matt Spence credited the staff’s work ethic and mastery of protocol for the high honor.
“The ACE award is a recognition that our agency’s staff has not only mastered the protocols but also embodies the professionalism, commitment and skills necessary to provide superior care during a crisis,” Sheriff Spence said via the release.
The IAED will present Sheboygan County with a plaque to commemorate the achievement.
