MANITOWOC, Wis. (WFRV) – A 51-year-old man accused of driving his vehicle onto a sidewalk toward pedestrians after complaining about “devil music” faced a Manitowoc County judge Monday.
Police recommended charges of second degree recklessly endangering safety and disorderly conduct again Matthew Korth, who was arrested follow the Saturday, September 13, incident outside Petskull Brewing in downtown Manitowoc. His bond was set at $10,000 cash, and he is due back in court on September 22 for a formal initial appearance.

According to the police report, Korth told officers he was upset about the heavy metal music being played at Manitowoc MetalFest, an annual event hosted by Petskull. He demanded staff “shut it down” and witnesses said Korth then made a U-turn in his Jeep, drove onto the sidewalk, and accelerated veering away at the last second.
One pedestrian reported pulling his girlfriend out of harm’s way as the vehicle came at them. Korth admitted he accelerated toward the group but claimed he wouldn’t have actually hit anyone.
The police report also says when they searched Korth and his vehicle, a credit card style pocket knife was confiscated. They also discovered he was already a convicted felon.
Formal charges are expected to be filed before Korth’s next date.
