APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – American Quality Homes gave away their second roof this year as part of their “Operation Homefront” project, a mission to provide a roof to a veteran, their family or first responders in need.
This installation was a little different from the one completed in June. It was done in collaboration with the Greenville Lions Club, which runs its own project called Christmas for Vets. When one veteran wrote down that all they wanted was a roof, they didn’t think it would happen.

Fast forward to Tuesday morning, and Asja Graper was getting a new roof installed on her house, honoring her late husband, Bruce Graper, who served in the U.S. Army for 22 years.
The donation was a way for the community to give back to a family that had given so much to the country.
Asja said Bruce had planned to continue helping the community after retirement, making this feel like a full-circle moment.

“When my husband, what he planned on doing when he retired, was filling his pickup truck and helping others. Well, he didn’t get the opportunity to do that, so this is coming around in a different sort of way, with people helping me like he would have been able to help other people,” Graper said.
AQH will now look toward other projects coming up at the end of the year, while the Greenville Lions Club will continue serving families in the Fox Valley, as it has for the past 50 years.
