Ozaukee Aquatics posted on Facebook about the life that 16-year-old Grant Freeze led both in and out of the pool, stating that nobody loved the sport like him.
“From his first day at practice, where we couldn’t get him to stop, to rising the ranks as one of the strongest 15-16 swimmers in the country, Grant exemplified what it means to be passionate,” the post said. “Eager for hard work, committed to making every stroke as strong as the last; you could not deter him.”

Ozaukee Aquatics added that his passion for swimming extended to his love of seeing his teammates succeed, and that he was always the first to congratulate a teammate and cheered louder than anybody.
“Thank you for being the incredible man that you are, Big G. We miss you so much,” the post concluded.
Grant’s mother, Kellie, posted about his tragic death, citing that his heroic nature meant that when he got his driver’s license earlier in the summer, he had marked himself as an organ and tissue donor.
Kellie added that doctors from around the region will harvest his organs on Sunday for future donations, which will help save countless lives.
“I know this will be an exceedingly difficult moment, but we will be surrounded by our families, friends and medical staff on our Hero’s Walk,” Kellie said on Facebook. “Most of all, we will be surrounded by Grant’s generous spirit and the sounds of Frank Sinatra’s My Way.”
