BROWN CO., Wis. (WFRV) – Plans are moving forward to bring camping to the riverfront at the Brown County Fairgrounds as part of a broader effort to connect communities along the Fox River.
County officials say the project aims to create a continuous recreation loop linking downtown Green Bay to De Pere and back, giving residents and visitors new ways to explore the area.

The proposal is part of the Brown County Capital Budget, which will go to a vote next week. If approved, construction could begin next year following a winter bidding process.
Brown County Parks Director Matt Kriese says the improvements would allow the fairgrounds to stay open for camping even during large events.
“Throughout the summer months, it’s busy. At those times during larger commercial events we have to close camping,” Kriese said. “So with relocating the campsites to the riverbank, it allows us to have camping partaking while there is a commercial event going on.”
The project is estimated to cost just over $1 million.
