RICHLAND COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) says a deer farm is under quarantine after testing positive for chronic wasting disease (CWD).
According to a release, the deer farm that tested positive is in Richland County, and the result was confirmed by a vet services lab in Iowa.
Officials say that CWD is a lethal neurological disease that appears in deer, elk and moose. caused by a protein that severely impacts the nervous system.

The animal that showed the positive CWD result was a three-year-old buck, and the area has since been quarantined as DATCP and officials with the U.S. Department of Agriculture conduct an investigation.
