WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WFRV) – Police in Wisconsin are investigating a shooting that occurred during a poker game at an apartment that is known to host illegal gambling activities.
According to the Wauwatosa Police Department, officers were sent to the scene around 1 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12, for a shooting at the Reserve at Wauwatosa Apartments.
Officials say that the initial investigation found a suspect forced their way into an apartment through a first-floor patio, leading to gunshots. Multiple people were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
One of the three people who was reported injured sustained the injuries while fleeing from the scene of the shooting.
According to the release, further investigation uncovered that the apartment is known to be a host site for illicit gambling activities and that at the time of the break-in, a poker game was underway with several people.
Evidence at this time indicates it was a targeted incident and that no threat is present to the public; however, the investigation is ongoing.
