According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, the lobby’s permanent closure does not mean residents can’t still contact officers directly.
Local 5 reached out for a statement, which was provided by Police Chief Mike Musolff:
“We are doing a remodel. The community will still have access to the PD through the city hall side of the building. One of the concerns with where our lobby was located is that it was not ADA-compliant with the steps in the front. We are also always trying to find ways to reduce costs. With recent support staff retirements, we were able to combine services with fewer employees,” – Shawano Police Chief Mike Musolff

All police business, including speaking with an officer, must be done at the Shawano City Hall.
According to the post, anybody looking to do so must enter through the south side of the building. An intercom to contact dispatchers is located at City Hall.
