MENASHA, Wis. (WFRV) – Officials with the Menasha Joint School District announced Tuesday morning that they are pulling out of the plan to take ownership of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Fox Cities property.
The Menasha Joint School District says that since it first announced its vision to convert the campus into an accessible and affordable childcare and early childhood education center, officials have been actively involved in discussions with Outagamie and Winnebago Counties.

District administrators noted that after careful consideration and feedback from school district residents, the Menasha Joint School District will not be the owner of the UW-Oshkosh Fox Cities campus.
From the onset of these discussions, we emphasized the importance of careful consideration of the long-term financial health and sustainability of the school district. A common theme in the community feedback received by the District was a desire for more information about the project’s impact on Menasha Joint School District taxpayers and the potential costs to the school district. Without these details and more opportunity for public discussion about these details, our plan lacks sufficient support.

Officials say the district will now look for other ways to continue their commitment to maintain their ongoing efforts for educational success and growth for current students, future students, and members of the local community.
