One dead, two airlifted after single-vehicle crash in Wisconsin

BARRON, Wis. (WFRV) – One person is dead, and two others were airlifted to a nearby hospital following a serious single-vehicle crash in Wisconsin early Tuesday morning.

According to the Barron County Sheriff’s Office, authorities received a report of a crash on March 18, shortly before 6 a.m., at the intersection of 18th Street and 8½ Avenue, just south of Barron.

A preliminary investigation determined that the vehicle was traveling south on 18th Street when it veered off the roadway at a high speed, struck an embankment, rolled over, and crashed into trees.

The driver, a 34-year-old woman from Wilson, Wisconsin, was extricated and flown to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. A 44-year-old male rear passenger from Florida was also extricated and airlifted for treatment.

The front passenger, a 50-year-old man from Wilson, was pronounced dead at the scene after being extricated from the vehicle.

The Wisconsin State Patrol is reconstructing the crash and assisting with the investigation. The Barron County Sheriff’s Office continues to examine the cause of the crash.
