Wisconsin man arrested for third OWI offense after leading Fond du Lac County deputies on 9-mile pursuit

FOND DU LAC COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – The Fond du Lac Sheriff’s Office announced that a 31-year-old Wisconsin man was arrested on Tuesday afternoon after leading deputies on a 9-mile pursuit while driving intoxicated.

According to the release, the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was advised around 4:02 p.m. on Tuesday by deputies from Washington County that they had terminated a vehicle pursuit on I-41 near State Highway 28 near the border of Dodge and Washington Counties.

Washington County deputies requested the Fond du Lac Sheriff’s Office’s assistance in attempting to stop the vehicle and take the driver into custody on felony fleeing/eluding charges.

A Fond du Lac County Sergeant located the vehicle around 4:20 p.m. heading south in Byron on State Highway 175 near County Highway F.

The Sergeant attempted to stop the vehicle; however, the suspect initiated a pursuit as it fled quickly south into Dodge County through Lomira. A Dodge County deputy joined the pursuit as a Fond du Lac deputy deployed tire deflation tools near State Highway 28.

The suspect vehicle saw the devices and turned around before striking them and went back north on State Highway 175. The driver continued north before pulling over and was identified as a 31-year-old Menomonee Falls man.

He was arrested without further incident and taken to the Fond du Lac County Jail on the following charges:

  • 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety
  • Felony Fleeing / Eluding
  • Misdemeanor Bail Jumping
  • Operating While Intoxicated – 3rd Offense
  • Probation hold for Felony Fleeing / Eluding.

No injuries were reported and no civilian or enforcement vehicles were damaged during the nine-mile pursuit.
