Winter Storm Warning: Changing over from rain to snow tonight

The latest Northeast Wisconsin weather forecast from Storm Team 5…

Low pressure has built in just south of Wisconsin bringing various types of active weather across the Midwest today.

Out ahead of the system, a warm front lifted pushing in a gusty southerly wind helping bring in warmer air across the Midwest. This provided the energy and strength needed for stronger storms to build in. This has held this afternoon for areas south of Wisconsin as tornadic activity and severe thunderstorms have moved through. Part of southern WI is under the category to see stronger storms this evening.

Behind this system, a cold front is dropping through which will bring very gusty northerly winds. This will cool us off and allow us all to transition from rain to snow. Accumulation will happen overnight for the Valley as more of a slush. But, since we are expecting accumulation, a Winter Weather Advisory and Winter Storm Warning are issued and will stay in effect until 1am.

By daybreak tomorrow, we are quiet with mostly sunny skies.
