Active weekend ahead with rain and ice accumulations

The latest northeast Wisconsin weather forecast from Storm Team 5…

Summer-like sunshine to be seen in southern counties this afternoon as temperatures surge into the 60s and 70s. Spring clouds up north will hold temperatures in the 40s to around 50 degrees where it will be much cooler north of a profound warm front. Green Bay should end up smack dab in the middle of the warm and cool airmass somewhere in the middle 50s.

After drying out today, another batch of scattered thundershowers or a wintry mix will form this evening up north, then slowly drop south through the overnight. Hail could be possible in any thunderstorm, plus we’ll keep an eye on temperatures as below freezing air temps near the ground could bring some icy conditions, especially over the northwoods.

The part of the storm system we must really focus on will occur Saturday evening through Sunday. Widespread rain, freezing rain, and finished off with a little bit of snow as the main storm wraps into the state. Slippery travel is anticipated where wintry weather occurs.
