EDEN, Wis. (WFRV) – For the second time in nearly four days a person in Fond du Lac County was arrested for allegedly reporting a false armed robbery.
According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, on August 10 around 11:30 p.m. deputies were sent to the Village of Eden for a reported armed robbery. Authorities spoke with the person who reported it.
They claimed they saw a vehicle parked on the roadway with its hazards on, with a man wearing dark clothing and three cats next to the vehicle. The person said they stopped on the roadway and saw the man put on a ski mask.

He then walked up to their vehicle and started tapping on the window with a pistol, according to the alleged victim. It was then mentioned the man entered the car and demanded money.
The victim told authorities she gave the man $1,200 in cash.
A detective later found ‘significant’ evidence to suggest the armed robbery was fake.
On August 14 the person who reported the robbery was arrested. The identity of the person who called in the alleged robbery was not provided.
A woman in Fond du Lac was arrested on Wednesday for claiming she was robbed at knifepoint. However, that was later debunked after police reviewed surveillance footage.
