GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – On Tuesday afternoon, Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach officially proclaimed the week of September 15 – 21 as Suicide Awareness Week in Brown County.
The announcement came during a press conference at the Brown County Crisis Center, as officials discussed ways that people can find help if they or somebody else they know needs it, especially in September, which is National Suicide Prevention Month.

Executive Streckenbach said that in 2024, Brown County lost 28 lives to suicide, with roughly 900 suicide deaths in Wisconsin as well, while offering ways that people in crisis can find help.
One of the many ways to get help is by calling, texting or chatting online through the number 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
