GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – A large police presence on the 2100 block of Basten Street near Danz Park starting around 5:30 p.m. prompted Green Bay Police to urge people to avoid the area while a manhunt got underway.

Officers were called around 5:30 p.m. for the weapons call, and law enforcement remained on the scene to search for a suspect. The suspect, identified as a 77-year-old Green Bay man, reportedly wielded a knife and injured two people near Danz Park.
According to a release, officers arrived at the scene and found two Green Bay men, an 18-year-old and a 56-year-old, who both reported non-life-threatening injuries. They reportedly told officers that the suspect fled into a wooded area nearby with multiple weapons in hand.
Green Bay Police deployed the SWAT team, K9 unit and Crisis Negotiation Team to assist, with added support from the Green Bay Metro Fire Department, Brown County Sheriff’s Office and Appleton Police Department.
Officers say the 77-year-old suspect was found shortly before 8 p.m. after an attempt to flee officers. He was arrested near North Danz Avenue and Basten Street.
The streets in the area that were closed off are reopened:
- Basten Street
- Morrow Street
- North Danz Avenue.
