GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – With the first big snowfall hitting Wisconsin over this past weekend, many families headed outside to get that Christmas tree that will be up for the next couple of weeks.
Add in snow falling and sticking to the ground, and it brings the Christmas magic to many.
“The snow started to come down slowly, it looked really nice out here and people like that, and it just ups the atmosphere around here, so I am glad the snow came and makes everything look a lot nicer,” said Tillmann Tree Farm Owner Trevor Tillmann.
Bay Park Square buzzes with Black Friday shoppers and deals
Tillmann’s Tree Farm has seen an increase in business with the snowfall, but with the tree cutting, Trevor prides himself on offering free hot cocoa, fire, and sending letters to Santa.
All a part of helping families make memories during Christmas time.
“We do the music, we got the free hot chocolate, the fire, we want everyone to feel welcome,” said Tillmann, “We want the kids to have fun playing in the snow, running through the trees, childhood is the best part of your life, I think.”
Many Wisconsinites keep the tradition alive of getting a real Christmas tree, and allow it to make it something to look forward to every holiday season.
“I think we both grew up in a household that had real Christmas trees, so it is just a special thing to go and get one that is yours, and make something out of it,” said Derek and Kristin Apps.
Shoppers hit Black Friday sales with celebratory mood despite economic strain
The Apps add an ornament every year, detailing something that they did that year.
Allowing them to add memories to their Christmas tree and seeing it on display every holiday season makes each Christmas much more special.
“I do the putting up the lights and adding the star, and the ornaments,” said Kristen Apps, “We always get a new ornament for our tree that shows what we did over the year, it is always special to see it fill up with our memories.”
