Barricaded Manitowoc man arrested following standoff with police, SWAT

MANITOWOC, Wis. (WFRV) – A 55-year-old Manitowoc man is now in custody following a standoff with police and SWAT early Monday morning.

According to a release from the Manitowoc Police Department, officers called in the Manitowoc SWAT and CNT (Crisis Negotiators Team) teams to help assist with arresting a man who barricaded himself inside a home.

Officials say a perimeter was set up around the 1300 block of 9th Street with the SWAT team exhausting every effort to end the incident peacefully.

The 55-year-old man barricaded inside of the home failed to come out on his own and SWAT eventually forced entry into the home and arrested the man without any further incident.

Police say the 55-year-old man is now being held at the Manitowoc County Jail on the following charges:

  • Fleeing/Eluding an Officer
  • 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety
  • Resisting an Officer
  • Misdemeanor Bail Jumping

At this time, there is no other information available and the Manitowoc Police Department assures there is no danger to the community.
