(WFRV) – A Wisconsin man is competing on a new show designed to showcase a chef’s cooking prowess, but also to help them ‘manage their temper’ in the kitchen.
Chef Jake Lawler is the Executive Chef of Vintage Brewing Company in Madison. Chef Lawler is set to participate in Yes, Chef! co-hosted by world-renowned chef José Andrés and Martha Stewart.

Chef Lawler helps five different restaurants with their menus and is an experienced cook in Michelin-starred kitchens, specializing in Italian and French foods, the show’s biography said.
Each contestant on the show was nominated by either a colleague or loved one, and they’re not just talented; they have things holding them back. Whether it’s egotistical, a lack of confidence or being a hot head, each chef will work to overcome the issues while showcasing their abilities.

Chef Lawler was nominated by his friend and front-of-house manager, Brandon, specifically citing Chef Lawler’s ‘defensiveness and temper,’ which have led to some negative moments in the kitchen.
Yes, Chef! episodes are on NBC at 9 p.m. on Monday, with episodes available to stream on Peacock the next day.
