Crash in Wisconsin leaves deputy and other driver hospitalized

ARLINGTON, Wis. (WFRV) – A deputy and another driver in Wisconsin are facing non-life-threatening injuries following a crash Saturday afternoon.

According to a release from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, multiple units were attempting to respond at 4:50 p.m. to an area in the Village of Poynette where a police officer claimed to be dealing with a suspicious person who was being uncooperative and allegedly threatening to kill the officer.

While responding to the area, a Columbia County deputy was involved in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of WIBU Road and Meek Road in Arlington Township.

The impact of the crash is said to be significant as the squad car rolled over several times, requiring both the deputy and the other driver to be taken by EMS to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating the crash, which saw the squad car, with lights and sirens activated, approach a stop sign at Meek Road but fail to see the other vehicle approaching and proceed into the intersection.

The other driver, who did not have a stop sign on their side of the road, crashed into the squad car as it also entered the intersection.

We are grateful that nobody was seriously injured in this crash and we’re praying for a quick recovery and healing for the deputy and other driver.
