De Pere woman’s nonprofit brings sparkle, strength to kids fighting cancer

DE PERE, Wis. (WFRV) – A De Pere woman is helping kids battling cancer feel strong, confident—and stylish.

Jessica DeCleene is the founder of You Bedazzle, a nonprofit that provides bedazzled headbands and high-quality hats to children undergoing cancer treatment. The mission: to bring joy, self-expression, and comfort to kids facing one of life’s toughest battles.

“When a little girl loses her hair, this is a great way to say, ‘What’s happening to you stinks, but here’s something to help you feel beautiful,’” DeCleene said.

Launched in April 2024, the nonprofit has already donated over 700 headbands and hats to children’s hospitals across Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Illinois. And the demand keeps growing.

Hospitals say the impact is visible. “These kids will come into their chemo appointments with these headbands,” DeCleene said. “And for that moment, they’re not the kid with cancer—they’re the kid with the cool headband.”

As You Bedazzle continues to grow, DeCleene says they rely on community support to “keep the sparkle going.”
