Driver in critical condition following Fond du Lac rollover crash

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) – One person is in critical condition after authorities in Fond du Lac say they had to be removed from their vehicle following a rollover crash early Monday morning.

According to a release from the Fond du Lac Fire Rescue, crews responded at 2:52 a.m. to the area of the Club Car Wash on 256 North Pioneer Road for reports of debris on the roadway and a pickup truck crashed near the car wash vacuums.

Officials say a pickup truck was heading south on North Pioneer Road when the driver failed to negotiate a curve causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and rollover in the ditch before crashing head-on with the cinderblock wall that enclosed the car wash dumpsters.

The impact from the crash with the cinderblock wall reportedly caused the pickup truck to spin before eventually coming to a stop facing northbound near the car wash vacuums.

The driver, who was in critical condition and facing life-threatening injuries, was taken by ambulance to the Fond du Lac County airport where the crew of a Flight for Life helicopter met them and took the crash victim to the Froedert Medical Center in Milwaukee.
