GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – After eight weeks of teaching children the value of being able to cook their food, Tausch’s Cooking Camp to Tackle Hunger hosted an awards ceremony for students.
Tausch’s Cooking Camp to Tackle Hunger, as the name states, was founded by Packers Hall of Famer Mark Tauscher and his wife, Sarah. The camp aligned itself to promote nutritional literacy and cooking skills for Boys and Girls Club members in the area.

“The goal of the program was to inspire the kids to gain confidence in the kitchen, learn about nutrition and cooking while enjoying time together, learning some life skills as well,” Sarah said.
Several dozen students took part in the camp, which lasted eight weeks, with students learning skills such as:
- Safe food preparation
- Reading food labels
- Recipe following
- Measuring ingredients

Students learned to cook veggie fried rice, ramen salad, breakfast burritos and plenty of other food items. The campers even got to bring home recipes and ingredients.
The next round of the camps doesn’t have a date yet; however, organizers are working to determine when they’ll be held. Anybody interested in having their kids participate may reach out to [email protected]
