GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – The Green Bay Police Department released its official crime statistics from 2024, which saw a slight decrease in the number of overall reports, but an increase in one category.

Crimes against society also saw an approximately 1% decrease, with 1,767 in 2024 versus the 1,788 in 2023. The department said this is likely due to lesser-known drug violations and prostitution.
However, despite the overall crime report decrease, the number of reported crimes against individual people rose about 18% from 2023 to 2024. In 2023, 1,466 crimes against person were reported compared to 2024’s 1,732 case reports.
The increase was attributed to:
- Aggravated assault
- Simple assault
- Kidnapping/abduction
The latter of the three is sometimes attributed to domestic violence incidents, especially if a person is barred from leaving.
While crimes against people did increase, the number of homicides decreased about 67%, with just two identified in 2024 compared to six a year earlier.
Police reported 24 shots fired cases in 2024, a 37% decrease from 2023’s 38. The table below includes the past several years of these reports, which do not include intentionally self-inflicted shots or justified shots fired reports.
