High Schooler in Wisconsin referred after bringing replica gun to school, no ongoing threats

SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. (WFRV) – A report that a student in Wisconsin had a replica gun in their backpack at school led to a questioning and a swift investigation on Thursday.

According to the Sun Prairie Police Department, the School Resource Officer was notified that a student at West High School had a facsimile firearm, a replica pellet gun of a Glock 19X in their backpack.

The student fully cooperated with questioning from authorities and was joined by a parent at the Sun Prairie Police Department. An investigation into the incident determined that the replica was never displayed or used in a threatening way and no ongoing threat is perceived at this time.

The student will be referred for possessing a dangerous weapon on school grounds, as officials emphasized via the release that whether or not it’s a replica, any weapon is prohibited on campus.
