Kwik Trip employee stabbed to death at Minnesota store, CEO issues statement

MANKATO, Minn. (WFRV) – A Kwik Trip employee is dead after being stabbed while on the job by a customer early Tuesday morning in Minnesota.

The Mankato Police Department responded to reports of a disturbance at the Kwik Trip at 1549 Madison Avenue shortly after 3:00 a.m. and found 34-year-old Dennis Vosika of Mankato unresponsive on the floor with a knife wound. Vosika was transported to a nearby hospital but was later pronounced dead.

In reviewing store surveillance footage, officers identified the suspect as 28-year-old Michale Miller, a known customer. He was taken into custody shortly thereafter without incident. Miller is facing second-degree murder charges.

The Mankato Department of Public Safety is working with the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) on this investigation.

Kwik Trip CEO Scott Zietlow issued a statement expressing deep sorrow for the tragedy:

“It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that I inform you of an unimaginable tragedy that occurred at Store 344 in Mankato early this morning. One of our coworkers was tragically stabbed and killed while on duty. This is a devastating loss for all of us, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.”

He continued, “As a company, we are committed to supporting our coworkers through this painful ordeal. The suspect is in police custody, and we are working closely with law enforcement to understand what happened.”

Zietlow emphasized the company’s commitment to employee safety, saying, “At Kwik Trip, the safety and well-being of our coworkers are our top priorities. We are dedicated to maintaining a secure and supportive workplace for all.”
