GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Wednesday, May 8, is National Bike to School Day and local elementary school students in Green Bay participated in the fun.
On Wednesday morning, students at MacArthur Elementary School biked to school as part of the national event. Bike to School Day has become a tradition at MacArthur, which helps kids get active to start their day.
“We create a big welcome for the kids that walk or bike to school and provide them with a healthy snack,” said MacArthur Elementary Principal Kim Van Pay. “It goes along with our wellness goals with keeping in shape.”
Van Pay also added that the idea of bike-to-school days carries over into the classrooms so the students can understand why this day is so good for them.
