Man jumps into Wisconsin River in attempt to avoid arrest, Police & Fire departments rescue him

RIB MOUNTAIN, Wis. (WFRV) – A man attempting to flee officers near Wausau decided to go swimming this past week.

According to the Wausau Police Department, officers were called to assist the Wausau Fire Department to rescue a man who jumped into the Wisconsin River to avoid police in Rib Mountain.

The man climbed onto some ice as an airboat arrived and rescued him from the shore.

The video, provided by the Wausau Police Department, shows officials speeding across a river in an airboat to rescue the man from the icy shore area.
