OCONTO FALLS, Wis. (WFRV) – The Oconto Falls Board of Education has announced the district’s next Superintendent who will succeed the retiring Dean Hess later this summer.
A release sent out on Wednesday states that the Oconto Falls School Board has selected Stuart Russ as its next Superintendent. Russ is currently the Principal of Oconto Falls High School.
Russ was named as Hess’ replacement, who is retiring on June 30, after a consensus-based selection process that included significant input from students, staff, and community members.

Board members stated that Russ brings extensive experience to the role, having served as principal at Oconto Falls High School and in several prior administrative positions in the Shawano and Wittenberg-Birnamwood school districts. “His dedication to student well-being, his commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments, and his proven ability to collaborate effectively with staff and community members were key factors in his selection,” the Oconto Falls Board of Education read.
“Stuart’s multifaceted experience, coupled with his recent tenure as the Oconto Falls High School Principal, make him well-positioned to lead our district into the future,” said Board President Clint Gardebrecht. “His collaborative approach and demonstrated leadership skills will advance our long history of excellence in education.”
The release also thanked Dean Hess for his years of exceptional service. More details about the transition will be released in the coming weeks.
