Oshkosh North Boys Basketball team sent off by fans to State Championship with pep rally

OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) – The Oshkosh North boy’s basketball team earned a special heroic send-off from fans on Thursday morning as they get set to travel to Madison for the State Championship.

The special send-off featured the Oshkosh North Pep Band, Choir, a celebratory and wish for luck from superintendent Bryan Davis along with members of prior state basketball teams to hype the players up ahead of their huge opportunity.

Head coach Brad Weber expressed his pride in the players and acknowledged how much the community got behind the team, even with some challenges in the regular season.

“I’m so happy for the guys, we had a rough regular season, but they stayed the course,” Coach Weber said. “I’m so happy that their hard work and ability to stick together has been validated by this run.”

The team was introduced game style to build more excitement as well, and the entire event was capped off by a police escort from local officers, who finished the send-off as the team headed out to Madison.
