HUDSON, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Wisconsin say they discovered one woman dead Wednesday evening after searching a home following a standoff that was started following a welfare check.
Two dead, one critically injured in head-on crash in Calumet County
According to a release from the Hudson Police Department, officers responded at 3:09 p.m. to a home on the 1600 block of Namekagon Street for a welfare check.
Officials say that while speaking with a man inside the home on the phone, the man made comments that had police believe that another person in the home was in danger.
The man reportedly refused to leave the home and began threatening to end his life by making officers shoot him.
Negotiations were said to last for several hours and the man eventually exited the home and was taken into custody without further incident.
While searching through the home, police say they found one woman dead inside. Police say this was an isolated incident and they believe that there is no further danger to the public.
At this time, the man is in custody at the St. Croix County Jail and an investigation into the incident is active and ongoing.
