HAMBURG, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities say two people are now in custody after they fled from the scene where they allegedly destroyed property Tuesday afternoon at a church in Wisconsin.
According to a release from the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were notified at 3:15 p.m. of two people reportedly destroying property at the St. Peters Luthern Church on County Road K in the town of Hamburg.

Officials say the two suspects fled from the scene before authorities could arrive after they were confronted by a witness who had called the Sheriff’s Office.
Upon the arrival of deputies, as well as troopers from the Wisconsin State Patrol, damage was found at the church and a description of the vehicle the suspects fled in was relayed throughout the responding law enforcement agencies.
At 4:20 p.m., a blue 2017 Subaru Legacy, which matched the description of the suspect’s vehicle, had no license plates and was stopped nine miles away from the crime scene by a state trooper on county Road K-O near the intersection of Levendoski Lane.
Both people in the car, 22-year-old Emmett Price Rathert from La Crosse and a 22-year-old from St. Paul, Minnesota who self-identified as Saw Kyat Lin Oo, were arrested.

Rathert and Oo are currently being held for a bail hearing in Vernon County and officials are working to confirm Oo’s identity.
