Two Wisconsin businesses earn national recognition, make Yelp’s Top 100 Local Businesses list

(WFRV) – Yelp has released its 2025 list of the Top 100 Local Businesses in the U.S., and two Wisconsin standouts made the final cut for their community impact and service.

In Madison, Leopold’s Book Bar & Cafe has been recognized as a beloved hybrid bookstore with a cafe and bar atmosphere. Their bar offers classic drinks like their Sherried Old Fashioned and Pimm’s Cup for $8 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday through Friday.

The cafe offers Italian-inspired coffee drinks made on their Elektra espresso machine. They also have a rotating menu of seasonal lite bites and shareables that pair well with anything from the cafe or bar.

And for those who love to brunch, Leopold’s has Sunday specials from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. where you can have a slow morning with a book

Located at 1301 Regent Street, reviews say Leopold’s blending of books with a welcoming atmosphere has become a local gathering spot where literature, coffee and spirits meet conversation.

Over in Milwaukee, Spire Fitness has also earned a spot for its commitment to building community through wellness.

Its known for group workouts that foster camaraderie. Spire, located at 102 N Water Street, is also praised for making fitness fun, social, and accessible.

Their one-of-a-kind boutique fitness studio offers indoor cycling, rowing, and THX training in Milwaukee’s Third Ward. They provide towels, locker rooms, have clean showers and changing rooms.

Spire’s Outdoor Yoga kicked back up in May and will be held all summer long on their private back deck. The fitness center says they aim to inspire everyone to leave Spire’s feeling like the best versions of themselves.

These Wisconsin favorites reflect a national trend, according to Yelp: people are choosing local businesses for authentic experiences and personal connections.

As Yelp puts it, local shops don’t just serve, they strengthen the communities they’re in.
