Warmer temperatures Thursday, messy weekend storm system

The latest northeast Wisconsin weather forecast from Storm Team 5…

Warmer weather for everyone on Thursday as temperatures get 5 to 10 degrees above our normal high of 45 degrees. The only downside is the small chance for a light rain shower or some sprinkles in southern counties this morning.

Something to watch out for is late tonight into Friday morning. Temperatures will start below 32 degrees Friday morning along with a chance for drizzle to fall under the clouds. There may be some icy areas from this over the north from this freezing drizzle.

Another portion of the forecast to monitor will be Saturday night into Sunday. Another batch icy precipitation may form across the area when temperatures fall into the weekend. Freezing rain or a wintry mix will be possible along with slippery roads.

Mostly sunny north, more clouds with scattered light rain or sprinkles south this morning. Later this afternoon, everyone will have a mix of sunshine and clouds with highs in the low to middle 50s.

Tonight, partly to mostly cloudy skies. Sprinkles or drizzle may form late with a low of 35 degrees. Cooler temps in the northwoods may turn that drizzle into icy rain with a low of 30 degrees and result in some slippery conditions.

Friday, we’ll watch the chance for icy drizzle up north in the morning. For everyone else, brief rain showers or a thundershower in the afternoon with many dry hours. Highs will be around 40 up north, low to middle 50s Green Bay and Appleton, and south of Oshkosh there may be 60 to 70 degree highs!

Saturday will bring mostly cloudy skies with a high of 40 degrees. Scattered rain showers develop in the afternoon and evening. Later at night, freezing rain is possible or a wintry mix as temperatures hover around the freezing mark.

Rain or a wintry mix is expected Sunday. The high is 38 degrees.
