The Latest from Storm Team 5…
Good Morning! Buckle up folks, today is not going to be a fun one to say the least. A storm system strengthening over the Plains will become our weathermaker today. Enjoy a quiet drive to work, as conditions will deteriorate late morning and for the remainder of your Wednesday. Our warmest temperatures of the day are right now as we will be cooling throughout the day.
Rain and a few thunderstorms move in late morning, with a wintry mix or snow far north. The snow could be heavy at times. These thunderstorms will be non severe, but could contain briefly heavy downpours, gusty winds and possibly some small hail since our freezing level is very low.
As we head throughout the afternoon and evening, the rain snow line will slowly move to the south and east, and we should all be over to snow by the mid to late evening. Snow could be heavy at times, and a north wind gusting 40-50mph wont make this any more bearable. Snow tapers overnight.
In terms of headlines, A WINTER STORM WARNING has been issued for Door, Marinette, both Menominee county in WI and MI, Shawano and northern Oconto counites from early this afternoon to just after midnight. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is in effect for Green Bay, the Fox Valley and over to the lakeshore.
Snow totals, since the track has shifted slightly south overnight, had to made some slight changes. 1-3″ for most, 3-6″ from northern Door to just north and west of the Fox Valley, 6-9″ of snow across the far Northwoods.
Tomorrow, brighter skies are expected. Highs return to the 30s and low 40s under mostly sunny skies. Winds will stay breezy though. Most of Friday is quiet as highs reach the 50s for some, with another system bringing a wintry mix expected during the evening an night Friday along a sharp cold front. Saturday is a quiet, and you guessed it, more snow on Sunday afternoon.
