Wisconsin doctor dons pink wig to raise funds for breast cancer research

WISCONSIN (WFRV) – A radiation oncologist at ThedaCare is going all out in pink to support breast cancer research.

Dr. Joseph Bovi is wearing a large pink wig as part of the Susan G. Komen fundraising program, which raises money to support cancer research and patient services.

“It’s more than about the science though,” Bovi said. “The funds raised through this Susan G. Komen event also provide real-time help for people who are going through that breast cancer fight right now — things like patient navigation, driving to and from appointments, financial assistance, emotional support and access to care, especially in underserved communities.”

Bovi has already surpassed his initial fundraising goal of $5,000.
