Wisconsin’s Best Burgers Contest names Elite Eight finalists

(WFRV) – Burger lovers across Wisconsin have spoken, and the Wisconsin Beef Council has announced the Elite Eight finalists in its Wisconsin’s Best Burgers Contest.

The competition, which celebrates 100% beef burgers crafted at Wisconsin restaurants, bars, and grills, drew nominations from enthusiasts statewide. The top eight restaurants receiving the most nominations include several from northeast Wisconsin:

“These Elite Eight establishments will now be visited by a secret panel of judges who will evaluate their burgers,” said Tammy Vaassen, Wisconsin Beef Council Executive Director. “The Elite Eight will also see new customers coming through their doors, all wanting to try a delicious burger. We can’t wait to unveil the champion on May 1 to kick off May Beef Month.”

The judges will score the burgers based on taste (50 points), appearance (30 points), proper doneness (10 points), and overall enjoyment (10 points). Bonus points (up to five) may be awarded for the restaurant’s atmosphere and dining experience.

Eligible burgers must be 100% beef and served on a bun or bread product. While patties can include added ingredients like spices and vegetables, all toppings, condiments, and sauces must be placed between the bun or served open-faced.

The Wisconsin Beef Council will continue to share updates on its social media pages as the competition heats up. For now, these eight contenders will battle it out for the title of Wisconsin’s best burger—who will reign supreme in the “beef dance?”
